Why therapy?

There are a million reasons why I think you should start therapy, but I’m a therapist, so I am a little biased. I want you to hear from real people just like you who have actually done therapy. These are not my clients; these are just people who believe that therapy works and that therapy is worth it!

I've sought out therapy for issues around anxiety, addiction, and mental health and I've always found it incredibly helpful. Being able to work alongside someone else through my difficult times in life and not feel judged, but listened to, can go a long way. Processing through emotions can also be so therapeutic and knowing you're doing it with a trained professional who can help guide you in questions is a really special place to be in.

“I decided to go to therapy 3 years ago when I wasn’t feeling like myself. I found a therapist who understood me, and gave me the tools I needed to be the best version of me. 3 years later, I am in a MUCH better place in life, and I continue to work with my therapist to make sure I am doing all I can to be there for myself and the people in my life. Therapy isn’t just for when you feel down, it’s for all the points along the way.”

“When I was younger and hadn’t gone to therapy yet, it always looked like a punishment being handed down to people because of their inability to manage their emotions. After making the decision to work on myself by going to therapy, I found out that my previous view could not be further from the truth. I learned ways to vocalize my feelings instead of keeping them buried. I processed trauma that had never actually been addressed. Ultimately, therapy helped me better understand myself which led to having more fulfilling relationships and connections with those around me.”

“I like therapy because I can talk to a person without feeling like I’m burdening them with my thoughts and feelings. I’m given ways to alter my thinking so I feel more in control of my life. After only a few sessions, I felt lighter because I was able to safely unload the weight from my shoulders. I’m still a work in progress but moving in a good direction.”

“Even when I feel like everything is going right in life, I still find it so beneficial to sit down and talk through the emotions I’m feeling. I often remind my friends and family that therapy doesn’t always have to solve a specific issue or situation - sometimes it’s just about creating a deeper relationship with yourself and understanding your emotions. ”

- Holly V.

“I felt for far too long I was unworthy, unlovable, and unfixable. Therapy helped me see though that there is not something innately wrong with me. Working with a good and trusted therapist helped me establish healthy coping mechanisms and thought patterns, repair and build relationships of all kinds, and be more accepting of myself and others. ”
